Second level

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

We are glad to share with you a few pictures that show what is happening right now at the HOH building site. The building team started to lay the ICFs for the second level walls.  We thank all of you who gave so we can start building the last level. Please continue to support HOH.
A quick reminder on how you can help financially the HOH project:

1. Donate money by sending a check to our US address found here (this is still our preferred method as there are no commissions)

Panoramic of the fence

The English team left last night only one family stayed for a few more days as they will drive back to England. The fence looks great and will be soon rendered (plastered).

Please continue to pray that the blocks for the last level will arrive in the next few days and the walls of the last level will be up in a few weeks.
We would also like to install electricity on the property. The last quote we received was around $3000. We pray that the money will be provided so we can start working on this too.
Today I received the new building permit so we are ready to go with both the upper lever walls and also installing electricity on the property.

Please continue to support the Horizon of Hope project!

English volunteers at HOH building a fence

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

As you can see in the pictures a team of volunteers from England endured the hot weather and finished the front fence at the HOH property. They also installed a wire-mesh fence on the left side of the building where we only had a natural (tree) boundary. The wire-mesh fencing was purchased with the money donated by a group of children and a family from a church in Northern Ireland.

In my last post I was letting you know that the city hall did not allow us to build the fence closer to the street so we finally received approval to build it about 4m distance from the road. Now we are waiting to receive the new building permit as the last one expired.

We are still waiting for the builder to come and start on the last level of our building but it seem that the Romanian tradition of delays and obstacles keeps going on. We were told that the truck with the ICFs is stuck at the border. The builder said that there is a new law that requires importing companies some extra papers for bringing merchandise into Romania.

Thank you for your support. We trust that God will continue to provide for our project using people like you!

A fence and a few more walls

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Time is passing by so quick. I probably can say that, only by looking at my little baby girl Sophia Ann who  seems to be growing every day.

We are getting ready at the Horizon of Hope property to take another step. Through God’s help we (almost) have the money to move on to the last level of the building. The builder said that he will build the last walls of the second level even if we are missing about $10.000. This is where the “almost” word in parenthesis came from. So hopefully in a week or two we should have the builder start the work.

We have already started to prepare the ground for a team of volunteers coming on the 9th of August from  England. They will to help us build a fence and a gate in the front of the property. We dug the foundation for the fence but as usual we encounter oppositions again. While we were finalizing the trench we had 4 people from the city-hall stop by together with the mayor and vice mayor which started finding all kinds of problems related to either the trench we dug (they said it has to go almost 8 meters back from the street even though there were no regulations saying that) or the area of our property, etc.

Now we are waiting for an extra paper from the city-hall to tell us exactly where we can build the fence which was promised to be ready on Friday but it was not. Please continue to pray that we will get that paper today or the latest by tomorrow (the 3rd of August) so we can dig another trench, pour the concrete and have the foundation of the fence ready for the English team.

Even if we only go a step at a time we know God knows the plans and the timing. We try not to worry but just wait and be patient. Spreading the word is what we are trying to do. Getting more and more people into this project will help. So if you have the chance to share with others about what we are doing please do so. If we can provide any promotional materials for you we would be glad to do so. Just let us know by contacting Petry Groza.

We know many people are praying for the HOH project. Please continue to keep us in your prayers!
